happy

“Happiness is a choice “, is a quote I’ve heard time and time again. One day I decided I was simply going to choose happy rather than make it one of my life’s aspirations.
I made the choice, and for a moment I thought I was happy and then I wasn’t. So I tried again and the result was the same. Quickly I realized that this was going to be a lot harder than it looks.

This morning I thought to myself that maybe the reason why I haven’t achieved this is because I don’t truly understand what it is. So I went to Webster dictionary for a little help.

hap·py

adjective

1. feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.

2. fortunate and convenient

What I experienced was contentment and convenience . I was happy but I could not stay happy because it is nothing more than a feeling ; a temporary emotion. I should have searched for strength in the Lord. When temporary things fade you need something real to hold onto.

Happiness will come and go but the joy of the Lord is my strength and my stronghold.

Nehemiah 8:10
