Black Walnut Cafe is another new eatery that has appeared within the last two years to the city of Norcross. They have been serving the residents of Houston and Dallas since 2002 and also have a location in Alpharetta, GA.
I was absolutely intrigued by the name of this quant spot so I chose to look up the menu and was made aware of the Weekend Brunch. I love brunch and mimosas even more so, this in addition to the distinct menu drove me to dine here on the morning of my birthday.
My family and I arrived around 12:30pm and the place was packed but we received swift and efficient service. The inside of the Cafe was gorgeous . On one side you had cafe vibes with a display of pastries. The opposite end offered dim lighting , and intimate fine dining ambiance. The one aspect that I wasn’t fond of was that you ordered at the counter on the Cafe side and your meal was served to you rather than being able to comfortably sit and decide on your brunch.
I decided on the Tex Mex Omelet because this was something I had never tried or even heard of before. This omelet contained red onions , sweet bell peppers , mushrooms , corn , jalapeños , cheddar, mozzarella, pico de gallo, cilantro, and tortilla strips on top. It also comes with sour cream and black beans but I don’t like either food. Even with the alterations, this was such an exquisite combination. I’ve had all of these foods combined in nachos before but never once thought of how flavorful it could be cooked all together in an omelet specifically once the salsa was added on top.
The grits I could’ve done without. They were very gritty. I took them home to try them again later and I still didn’t find them enjoyable.
Black Walnut has been added to one of my places to dine whenever I go home. It’s cute, cozy, and extremely delicious. Any believer in ambiance and new and exciting food combinations would enjoy beautiful moments here.
