Ring

When I look at this ring I think of the morning you gave it to me

You got down on one knee saying “will you marry me ?”

I think of my gut telling me something was off.

I should’ve listened.

When I look at this ring I think of the night that you said you weren’t sure about things

I took it off angrily and threw it , now a diamond is missing.

I should’ve listened.

When I look at this ring I remember you giving it back to me when things were cooler

Our hearts fuzzy, we picked a date and began planning our future

I should’ve known better.

When I look at this ring I remember the last time we spoke

You don’t want this ring and neither do I

It’s time I tell the ring goodbye.
